Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem.
My dear Brothers and sisters,
Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.
moment, I wish to speak on a matter that’s veritably close to my heart — internal health. In our communities, we speak frequently about the physical body, about salah( prayer), about earning halal income, but we infrequently stop and ask
” How is your heart doing? How is your mind managing with life?”balanced lifestyle
🧠 Mental Health A Part of Our Deen
Islam is a complete way of life — a balanced life. And part of that balance is the care of the mind and heart, not just the body. Our great scholars, including Imam Abu Hanifa رحمه الله, did n’t only educate fiqh( justice) but also emphasized adab, tolerance, spiritual well- being, and emotional balance.
Let me ask you When was the last time you checked in with your soul? When was the last time you said, “ Ya Allah, I do n’t know what’s going on in my heart, but I need help ”?
Taking care of our internal health is n’t a ultramodern invention. It’s deeply embedded in the Qur’an and Sunnah.
📖 Qur’an & Sunnah on Emotional Health
Allah ﷻ says in the Qur’an
“ Indeed, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest. ” ( Surah Ar- Ra’d, 1328)
Notice — hearts, not just muscles or smarts. Our emotional well- being is part of our fitrah( natural state).
Rasulullah ﷺ endured grief. After the death of Khadijah رضي الله عنها and his cherished uncle Abu Talib, he went through the Time of anguish( Aam al- Huzn). Indeed the stylish of creation ﷺ wept, felt overwhelmed, and demanded time to heal.
He turned to Allah, yes — but he also rested, reflected, and indeed travelled to Ta’if looking for new stopgap. That’s emotional adaptability.
🧕 Real Story Sister Maryam’s Silent Struggle
I formerly met a family named Maryam( name changed for sequestration). She was a mama of three, active in her community, always smiling at the masjid. But one day, after I gave a talk on tawakkul( trust in Allah), she stayed back and said still,
“ Shaykh, I ca n’t feel anything. I supplicate, I cook, I clean, but I feel numb. ”
She was n’t weak in iman. She was just tired in her soul.
- We talked. We made a plan
- Dhikr after fajr
- Walking 15 twinkles daily while harkening to Qur’an
- Journaling at night with du’a
- And yes, she saw a Muslim counselor
moment, Alhamdulillah, she’s helping other sisters who feel the same. She said,
“ The moment I stopped pretending everything was okay, Allah opened doors I did n’t indeed know was. ”
📚 What Our Hanafi Legacy Teaches Us
In the Hanafi tradition, the conception of raf ‘ al- haraj — lifting difficulty is deeply important. However, our scholars work to ease it, If commodity harms the religionist’s well- being.
still, our connections, our connection with Allah, If internal health is harming our salah. Because guarding the nafs( tone) is also from the maqasid al- shari’ah( objects of Islamic law).
Imam Abu Hanifa رحمه الله formerly said
“ The heart of a religionist is like a raspberry. When the bodies of stopgap and fear are balanced, the raspberry flies straight. ”
But what if the raspberry is too tired to fly at all? also we must let it rest, nourish it, and gently help it back to the sky. balanced lifestyle
🧓 My Own trip – A Assignment in tolerance
Times agone , I endured commodity I infrequently speak about intimately. After a long period of community work, I came deeply exhausted. I had no energy. I kept tutoring, comforting, giving khutbahs but outside, I was empty.
I was n’t depressed in the clinical sense, but my ruh( spirit) was crying.
One elder scholar said to me commodity I’ll noway forget
“ Your mind is like a horse. However, rest, and graze, If you do n’t let it drink. ”
So I took time off. I redefined the Seerah, not as a scholar, but as a nut. I walked barefoot in the theater . I made istighfar without rushing. And I came back not just stronger but more compassionate.
